Duodecim Scripta
£9.00
Originally played by the Greeks and known as
Grammai
(lines) the game was picked up by the Romans who referred to it as
duodecim scripta
(the game of twelve lines or twelve points).
This game was played all across the Roman Empire, in taverns, brothels, private homes, and frontier forts. Numerous boards have been found from Egypt to Britain, but especially in and around Rome.
The wooden board is approximately 20cm (8") by 29.5cm (11.75") and comes complete with 30 coloured glass counters (15 in one colour, 15 in another), three numeral dice and rule sheet.
Please note - the colour of the counters supplied may differ from that illustrated in the products photograph.
