Ludus latrunculorum or Latrunculi goes right back to Roman times and is thought to be a pre-cursor to both Chess and the Tafl games of Scandinavia.
The object of the game is to take your opponents king piece or reduce them down to three pieces in total.
It is also possible to play the Greek game of Petteia using this set.
The wooden board is approximately 20cm (8″) by 29.5cm (11.75″) and comes complete with 26 coloured glass counters (12 in one colour, 12 in another and two different coloured counters to act as kings / centurions) and rule sheets.
Please note – the colour of the counters supplied may differ from that illustrated in the products photograph.
