The myrobalan is a tree grown mainly in India the powder comes from the crushed berries.

Used traditionally as a tannin for cotton. Will also impart a yellow or bronze colour. This can also be used as a dye on its own.

When used as a tannin use at 15 – 20% per dry weight of cotton. Then use one of the mordants below.

Aluminium Acetate at 5% in a heated mordant bath.
Aluminium Lactate at 5% in either a cold or heated mordant bath.
