Tagetes Flowers – Whole [50g]

£4.00 inc. VAT

Tagetes Flowers (Tagetes patula).

This Natural Dye material contains all of the tops and will produce yellow while the addition of iron can produce a nice strong green. An addition of ammonia will change the colour to a red/orange.

An Alum mordant is required for protein fibres.

A tannin and Alum mordant are required for all cellulose fibres.

Not food safe, so please do not make a drink with this dye.

The picture shows wool which has been mordanted with alum, then dyed with tagetes.

The left-hand skein shows how all the skeins originally came out of the dye pot. The other four were each dipped into a different modifier bath for approximately 10 minutes. From left-to-right these modifier baths were Citric Acid, Ammonia, Copper and Iron.
